Vista Desktop by thecrayolakidd Vista Desktop by thecrayolakidd
Kinda bored, so been tinkering with the latest Vista build (yes it is the real deal, not one of the many blasted "vista" themes) getting things just the way i like it. All I can say is, it looks like MS is finally doing something right - just glad I catered for it when I had this machine built :)

Just about everything. I really need to build my own system.

That's often the way to go. Although didn't have the skills myself, had mine custom built locally - saved a couple of grand on what it would have cost to buy off the shelf. Built 18 mths ago and still runsVista like a charm ::)

I really like the new Windows Basic theme that they announced 2 days ago. I think it's just as good as Aero.

Was wondering if they'd take that direction - not quite as pepped up as the full theme minus aero, but certainly better than before. Would still aim for Ultimate version in the long run however - many features (even littlethings like games or full native 2-way syncing with portable devices) will only be available in the top version. From the way I read it, the gap will be much bigger from basic to Ultimate than was in XP Home & Pro. Even if you run it with the Basic theme until you can update your hardware.

Oh yeah. I think releasing a bunch of versions of Vista is a BAD idea. I know people who are totally confused as is about the differences b/t XP Home and XP Pro; making MORE versions w/ Vista is going to be a headache on end users.

All people need to know, is that you want to buy Vista Premium, or Vista Ultimate.
